Emerald Nuts Midnite Run New Year's Eve 2006/2007

We had dinner and rested before setting off at around 10 pm to Central Park.
The crowds on 8th were unreal! all turning into the streets waiting to edge closer to Times Square.
We attempted the subway but decided to make a run to CP via cab as it was too chaotic to push our way thru. We also had no idea how long it wld take from the west side of the park to the starting line.
We arrived just half hour before it was due to start. DS made his way to the section where his estimated finish time group was. Chatted to a lady from Connecticut who had been separated from her other friends. They were going to walk the 4 miles.
As you can see, the serious athletes are in the front :)
The fireworks in the park went off when we counted down to midnight. The atmosphere was fantastic! Lots of people dressed up too. DS said he ran beside a guy in a chicken suit for most of the way. He finished in 30mins comfortably and we headed to the main entertainment area where there was music and food.
A great nite... thoroughly recommend this over New Year's @ Times Square.
Got back to the hotel before 2am. Most of the crowds were gone... thank goodness!
